Thanks for thinking I'm interesting enough to check up on. If you've come this far, I dare you to say hello before you leave.
New in 2009:
I have a new public blog called multicast.
This year (2009-10) I am a Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University and a visiting research scholar in the Innovation Lab at MIT Sloan. I am also an Associate Professor in Communication (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences), at the Coordinated Science Laboratory (College of Engineering), the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, and at the Institute of Communications Research (College of Media), at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I am also affiliated with Science and Technology Studies, Engineering and Technology Studies, Informatics, and The Illinois Center for Wireless Systems. My research investigates communication and information technology infrastructure and public policy -- especially the way that legal, social, and technical elements work together (or don't work together) to shape systems of communication like the Internet. Usually, I read. Sometimes, I write. Often, I drink coffee. I might be found in a cafe drinking coffee and reading, or at home drinking coffee and writing. Or just drinking coffee. My research group has a Web site too; see http://pact.uiuc.edu/.
